RICH DAD POOR DAD
I just finished reading this book from Robert Kiyosaki. Rich Dad Poor Dad and I highly recommend it. It starts out with a story from his childhood and ends with you wanting more. As I was reading I would be constantly reminded my self that at the time of this writing the times were very different. The state of the economy today tends to make you think that the somehow it won’t relate to today. On the contrary, Robert is teaching a way of life, a way of thinking. Education, financial education is the number one asset you can have on your side. It will allow you to make smart moves as the economy, real estate markets and the world changes.
Robert is brilliant, I say. I thought this book confirmed what I had been feeling for some time now. The system we humans have setup for our selves, as far as working all our lives and finding ourselves in retirement with little or nothing. Just being a slave to money, all our lives. It STINKS! We go to school for a large part of our lives and never learn anything about money and how to have money work for us. It’s just good reading.
Below are some of the quotes I wrote down in the process of reading…
- Great opportunities are not seen with our eyes. They are seen with your mind!
- This is only a game. Sometimes you win and sometimes you learn!
- Most people never win because they’re more afraid of losing!
- Unfortunately the main reason most people are not rich is because they are terrified of losing!
- Winners are not afraid of losing. Failure is part of the process of success. People who avoid failure also avoid success!
- It is communication skills such as writing, speaking and negotiating that are crucial to a life of success!
- Take responsibility for your finances or take orders all your life!
- You’re either a master of money or a slave to it!
I look forward to Andrew Wee’s Friday pod cast every week. About a month ago he was interviewing a blogger that is into reading a lot, he recommended reading this book. I happened to mention it to one of my fellow employees and guess what he was in the middle of, yes this book. So when he finished it he loans it to me. I read it fast, very easy reading.
